By Captain Joshua Ambrose
March 9, 2017

On March 9th, 2017 at approximately 0900hrs Liverpool Fire Department was dispatched at a possible brush fire at Pilot Truck Stop on Seventh North Street. Shortly after dispatch Liverpool Engine 2 (Maher) and Liverpool Engine 1 (Harter) went in route. Upon arrival of Engine 2 a brush fire was discovered in the back of the Pilot near the overnight truck parking. The fire was noted to be 50 feet by 10 feet in a wet land / marsh area that was extending to the wooded area nearby. Engines 2 and 1 deployed 1 hand line each to control the fire. Command (Capt. Ambrose) held with the 2 engines on the scene. Liverpool Fire Department would like to remind everyone that in the spring months there is a lot of dry vegetation from over the winter that can easily catch fire. The State of New York has a burn ban that starts next week and continues until the middle of May.
