On Saturday August 19th, 2017 at 2352 hrs., Liverpool Fire was dispatched by Onondaga County 911 to a fire alarm at a commercial business on Luther Ave. Minutes after dispatch Onondaga County 911 came back with reports from the alarm company that they were receiving multiple fire alarm activations and now a water flow alarm. Car 2 (D/C Ormsby) requested the balance of the alarm assignment be filled due to the multiple alarm activations. Upon arrival of Car 2 he found a large 1 story commercial structure with smoke coming from all 4 sides, an active alarm, and sprinklers activated. Liverpool Car 1 (Chief Loucks) arrived and assumed the command role. Engine 2 (Capt. Ambrose) was first to arrive, and brought in a hydrant out front. Engine 2’s crew stretched a leader line into the building and deployed hotel packs off the line to begin suppression. Engine 1 (FF Heise) arrived second due and immediately went to work helping Engine 2 suppress the fire. Truck 2 (Lt. Cisne) arrived 3rd and went to work opening overhead doors and making access for ventilation. Engine 3 (Capt. Albanese) arrived 4th and assumed RIT (Rapid Intervention Duties). Crews made quick work of the fire and had the fire under control 10 minutes after arrival. Liverpool crews were also assisted by Solvay Rescue 11, Mattydale Quint 3, Moyers Corners Engine 22, and North Syracuse Engine 6. Clay Engine 31, Moyers Corners Truck 2 and Moyers Corners Engine 31 back filled the Liverpool Stations while the crews worked on the scene. Onondaga County Fire Investigators also responded to the scene to assist with the investigation into what started the fire.
