Serious Car vs Pedestrian Accident

On Wednesday August 23rd, 2017 Liverpool fire units were returning from a possible fire in Moyers Corners when Onondaga County Fire Control activated Liverpool for a reported Car vs Pedestrian accident on Hopkins Road. Engine 2 (Capt. Ambrose) who was already on the road returning from the reported fire went enroute while the dispatch was still being finished. Engine 2 arrived on scene 1 minute following dispatch. Crews found a pedestrian with serious injuries and began to tend to the pedestrian and the driver of the vehicle. Rescue 1 (FF Harter) also responded to assisted with patient care and scene control. Moyers Corners Engine 31 and Car 2 (D/C Zaferakis) also responded and assisted on scene. AMR (American Medical Response) ambulance transported the patient to Upstate Hospital with members of Liverpool Fire aboard assisting. The scene was turned over to Onondaga County Sheriff Deputies for further investigation.

Our thoughts and prayers are extended to the family of the pedestrian that was struck.


Update 8/24/17: The pedestrian who was struck has succumbed to her injuries and has passed away.
