Earlier this evening Engine 2 was dispatched to a garage fire in the Mattydale Fire District. Engine 2 (FF Manley) was on its way to a coverage standby at the time of the call and rerouted to the possible fire. Car 4 (D/C Laakso) and Engine 2 arrived first due to a large 2 car garage well involved. Car 4 was assigned the duty of operations chiefs while Engine 2 secured its own water source and stretched the initial attack line to a man door on the side of the large garage. The attack line was quickly put into work knocking down the fire inside. Additional crews arrived and assisted with opening up, overhaul, and ventilation. Engine 2 operated for an hour before returning to service. The fire was placed under control and the scene was turned over to Mattydale FD.
