Hopkins Road Industrial Fire

On Monday May 28th around 1600hrs the Liverpool Fire Dept along with mutual aid companies were alerted for a reported building fire on Hopkins Rd. Cars 1,2 and 3 all marked enroute after dispatch. Car 1 (Chief Payne) arrived and confirmed he had smoke showing and active fire in the rear of the building and assumed command. Car 2 (DC. Ormsby) arrived and assumed the interior operations chief. Moyer’s Corners Engine 32 was first arriving, securing a plug and deploying a hand line. Engine 2 (DC Manley) arrived second, finished the lay and pumped into 32s supply. Engine 1 (FF Pernice) arrived third and assumed the 3rd due engine responsibilities and assisted with supperession. Rescue 1 (FF J. Santoro) arrived as the first specialty and assumed the first due truck responsibility. Rescue 1s crew went to the roof and began opening up to contain the remaining fire in the roof. Car 3 (DC Laakso - roof operations). Due to the extreme heat multiple departments were called in to assist with overhaul and extensive ventilation of this large building. Crews rotated and operated on scene for about 3 hours before returning to service.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Onondaga County Fire Investigation Unit and OCSO.
