During Station 1s weekly standby, the Volunteers of Liverpool were alerted for an MVC with reported injuries on the Thurway in the westbound lanes. Reports indicated a Subaru SUV slammed into the back of a construction vehicle. Rescue 1s staffed crew of 6 quickly marked enroute after dispatch, along with Car 1 (Chief Payne). Upon Car 1s arrival it was found that a single vehicle had struck the back of a construction zone lane blocker, and also struck a passing tractor trailer. Rescue 1 (FF Albanese) arrived, securing the vehicle, and began removing hazards from the roadway. EAVES ambulance was also on scene and handled patient care. Engine 2 also assisted on scene, protecting crews operating in the roadway. The scene was released to the NYSP. Units were inservice within 30 minutes.
