The term "Student/Live In" represents a unique community service opportunity with the Liverpool Fire Dept. Inc.  "Student/Live In" is a person who serves the department and community in a volunteer capacity as a "live-in" firefighter, and could be a certified Emergency Medical Technician.  In return for your services, the fire department provides living accommodations for you.  To be eligible to apply for the program, you must:

     - Be a matriculated student in an accredited educational program at a local college or university
     - Live outside Onondaga County, NY 
     - Be an active member of a fire department in New York State in good standing
     - Be at least 18 years of age
     - Have completed IFSTA Basic, Essentials of Firefighting, or NFPA 1001 class (as required by NYS)

General Obligations of "Student/Live In":

    - Enter into a written agreement with the Liverpool Fire Dept. stipulating duties and responsibilities
    - Assist in maintaining grounds, living area, and facilities of the station as assigned
    - Fulfill duty schedule that consists of a maximum of 20-30 hours per week
    - Attend minimum specified amount of fire and medical training as required.

General Accommodations:

    - Provided with bed, desk and dresser in locked bunk room
    - The station is equipped with bunkroom, kitchen, lounge, shower and rest rooms
    - Parking for personal vehicle
    - Local telephone service and Cable television provided
    - All turnout gear and equipment provided
    - Duty uniform provided
