Just after 6pm Wednesday evening the Volunteers of Liverpool were alerted for a tractor trailer that struck the Onondaga Lake Parkway bridge. Reported indicated that the truck struck the bridge and was rolled over on its side. Cars 1 & 3 arrived confirming reports. Engine 5(Capt. Liguigli) arrived first due after clearing a previous alarm. Engine 5 began assessing the damage and mitigating hazards. Rescue 1(LT. Bushbascher) arrived and began plugging a small diesel leak from the trucks saddle tanks as well as assisting with hazards. Engine 2 and Squad 2 also assisted on scene. The parkway has since been shut down in both directions as wreckers work to clear the truck and debris. OCSO is investigating the crash.

Today has been a busy day for our volunteers. We have responded to 6 alarms since noon two of which being serious alarms. With the high temperatures we can’t thank our dedicated volunteers enough for all that they do to keep our communities safe.
