At approximately 2026 hours on October 26, 2019, the Liverpool Fire Department was requested Mutual Aid to the Mattydale Fire Department for a reported residential fire. Per County Fire Control, there was numerous calls to 911 about the fire. North Syracuse Fire Car 1 arrived on scene, giving the initial size up, and reported heavy fire to the bravo and charlie corner of the structure. North Syracuse Car 1 declared the Signal 99, requesting additional manpower and agencies to be added to the alarm. Liverpool Engine 1 (Lt. Schaefer) arrived 3rd due. Deputy Chief Manley was in-charge of operations. Engine 1 assisted Mattydale on-scene with initial fire attack and extinguishment. Once access to the second floor/attic could not be found, firefighters on Engine 1, threw a 24 foot extension ladder, to gain access to the second floor/attic area through a window. The remaining of the fire was extinguished at this point. Once operations died down, and overhaul was underway, the crew from Engine 1 along with a crew from Mattydale were tasked with cutting a horizontal hole on the delta side of the structure, to check for remaining hotspots. Units operated for approximately 1 hour before being released by command.
Additional Units on-scene included firefighters from Mattydale, East Syracuse, North Syracuse, Hinsdale, Moyers Corners, and Lyncourt.
Additional Resources on-scene included NAVAC, Salina Town Codes, and Onondaga County Fire Investigation Unit.
